I am a place by MissUmlaut I am a place by MissUmlaut
Je suis un endroit
Compagnie CHATEAUX DE SABLE , Charlotte Cabanis et Aurore Marguerin.

I am a place is a theatrical, poetical play.

I do shots for a small associative theater. Very busy managing too much shots (I love that) and people authorizations and feelings about how they look or whatever (It bore me to death, so I dont post much shots here).
This serie was done during the rehearsal and well, I rather like it. My understanding of the play changed during my shots, and is drifting again now that I am sorting the shots. They are there (sorting in progress, there will be more...)

No use no copy no shit please.
Well, this one shot really resonated with my own concerns, about things (or people) not there. It fits me. I am a place too, and this is like the place I am, it is empty and dusty and it has some light and a bit of blue. Like but it is not me. Not there. Just a picture, really, but one I am quite happy with.

there's a deep understanding of "theatre space perception" in your picture, combines with your title!
every swamp of light on stage floor can represent a "place", the same as every pair of shoes on stage floor can represent a "place"...

I know this view (of "raw" empty stage) from deep inside... still moves me :)
the minimal way of expression speaks, and open to so many interpretations!
bravo! you caught this play's meaning, even if it was intuitively!

The title is not mine ! It is the title of the play.
Yes, it was visual understanding. At first I found the play very visually appealling but well, experimental and a bit difficult for me. And I liked a lot the way the actress danced, less the way she played, with an unsteady gait (the purpose of the high heels shoes was I guess, just make her more unsteady). Usually actresses and dancers looks strong, even when they are very thin and playing the fragility, but for me she looked frail.
More understanding came when I sorted the shots afterwards. That's odd, and I may also be wrong, since I probably shoot selectively at some gestures and not some others.
You would love this theater. (another reason to visit me, hey !).
But dealing with the images rights issues is just horrible for me. I learn that, too...And I am actually doing another portfolio to help me for future plays.
Too bad da portfolio system is crippled.

I would say thank you to anyone, but this feature from you, because it is from you the bluesman, the poet, deserve a very special gratitude. I guess you would have liked the show, too.
